Laxmikant Berde was born in 1954 at Mumbai, Maharashtra...He was a brilliant actor...In fact, his passion for acting was from his childhood days...He was keen in taking part in inter-school & intra-school drama competitions & subsequently, also won prizes there...Apart from that, he used to participate in stage dramas during Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations...Professionally, he first started acting with the 'Mumbai Marathi Sathitya Sangh', followed by his first appearance in a comic role in Purushottam Berde's Marathe stage play 'Toor Toor', which gave him first big level attention from the audience !!
He first acted in a movie named 'Lek Chalali Sasarla'...It was a Marathi movie, followed by 'De Dana Dan' & 'Dhoom Dadaka'...Both of these movies were superhit & Laxmikant got huge appreciation for his comedy work...Soon, he was overflowed with film offers & gave his stupendous performance in films like Aamhi Doghe Raja Rani, Hamaal De Dhamaal, Ashi Hi Banwa Banvi, Balache Baap Brahmachari, Eka Peksha Ek, Bhootacha Bhau, Thartharat and Zapatlela....
Hindi films were also waiting for this fine comdedian...He acted in several hindi films like 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Hum Aapke hain koun', 'Mere Sapno Ki Rani', 'Aarzoo', 'Saajan', 'Beta', '100 Days' and 'Anari'...&...obviously got noticed by public for his talent
Sometimes, its said that good friends are not made from professional, professional rivalry forms an invisible though tangible wall between colleagues...But, Laxmikant Berde-Ashok Saraf were a remarkable exception who despite being colleagues (acted in many movies together) were great friends & that friendship lasted till Berde's death in 16th December,2004 in Mumbai from kidney failure...Its heard that it was difficult, or lets say, impossible to console Ashok Saraf as he could hardly bear the pain of his best friend's death...
I first came to know about this powerful actor when as a kid, I watched 'Maine Pyar Kiya' with my elder cousin sisters...I was very small then, so, could not understand the 'pyar' between Salman Khan & Bhagyashree in the movie...The only person who kept me attached to the film without creating much tantrums in the movie hall, was Laxmikant Berde !!! :-)
