There was a lot of curiosity about the music of Le Chhakka because Raj Chakravarthy's films have always boasted great music, thanks to Jeet Ganguly. So,will this new combo of Raj and Indradeep Dasgupta work?
Well it does, and how?Le Chhakka has 5 songs and you could not have asked for a more diverse package.
The album starts with "Le Chhakka",the title
track. This rock song with great lyrics and sung brilliantly by Kunal Ganjawala brings
out the essence of the movie.Do watch out
for the rap by Prosenjeet, something you have
not heard too often in Bengali music.
"Shabba Rabba" is instantly likeable.A soothing melody sung by Kunal Ganjawala and Monali Thakur, this is in total contrast to the title track and is refreshingly different. But,I feel Shreya Ghoshal would have suited the song better.
Ali Maula starts off with a qawwali by Shadab Hussain and then moves onto a deep
romantic melody sung perfectly by Shaan and
Shreya but it is the qawwali part that stays with you the most.
Ekta Bindaas para is again a very different
with fun lyrics that portrays the essence of para culture, its inhabitants in a fun way.Takes some time to grow on ears but
has the potential to be a cult song.
Ua ua ee my sound very awkward as lyrics
and really, this is one song that could have
done with better lyrics, but it is a true
romantic melody in spirit with awesome
rendition by Shaan and June Banerjee. This
song may not rank among the best of this
album but still surprises you with its
fresh tunes.
So,no doubt,Le Chhakka is an album you would love to have with you.I assure you
this is something new you get to hear and
any comparison with rajda's previous works
is meaningless because it belongs to a
different genre. All the songs have been
perfectly rendered but I did miss Jeet
Ganguly ,the singer,in the title track .
