''Partner in good fun!''
After a long time here comes a comedy that lets you.... relax! No offensive lines, Hardly any vulgarity, and what more – You don’t even see actors falling or slapping each other to induce laughter. Life Partner is what you can actually term as a clean family entertainer.
Rumi Jaffery’s directorial debut God Tussi Great ho was quite a big turn off when it released this year. And perhaps its failure is what adds to our surprise this time when we can find ourselves in this film throughout at regular intervals that doesn’t involve so much of stale jokes as much as clever comic timing and simple lines that make you chuckle, if not enough to make you roll on the floor.
The intermission point is abruptly built on a serious note and the 2nd half too is conceptually non-funny for most of the reel length. But It could’ve been worse as in many recent capers which suddenly become serious only to irritate more.
Its basically a tale about two much-in-love couples who love, fight and reunite and a Casanova divorce lawyer in between. The romantic or sweet moments too end up working somehow, perhaps because the overall ambience set is pretty delightful.
And that remains very much till the climax, where two of our lead performers play a mad prank, to solve all the matters so that we leave the audi with a big silly grin on our face. Govinda is somewhat misfit for the loverboy he plays, but he is in crackling form anyways. Same goes for Genelia who gives a refined performance with a rather improved accent.
Tusshar Kapoor & Prachi Desai are good while Fardeen Khan kinda surprises you with is act, considering his previous tryst with comedy.
Final verdict :-
At a time when Kaminey promises to thrill you and make you bend forward from your seats, Life Partner is not such a bad option if you want to lay back on your cushion seat, stretch your legs... and enjoy!
Recommended for a chilled-out and ‘easy on brains’ film-watching experience.
