David Dhawan used to make complete commercial films like AANKHEN which were known as comedy films more though.
LOAFER is one of his serious films and it was an average at BO. The film is very corny, unoriginal and filmy.
Anil Kapoor looks too old for a LOAFER but thanks to his tapori image which he managed to hold. The story is quite implausible and the whole villainy track which fails to appeal Anil becoming a politician is too simplistically handled. The entire end tilts on blood n gore and is nothing great to impress audiences.
I think this isn't one of Davidji’s best works.
Anil Kapoor acts well in his comfort zone and carries the film well, though looking too old for the role. Juhi Chawla was as usual. Shakti Kapoor repeats his sidekick act. Gulshan Grover, Khulbushan Kharbanda, Farida Jalal, Mukesh Rishi were typecast.
