Ravi (Anil Kapoor) is a good-for-nothing graduate, who gets fired from every job he tries his hand at, within a few days. His father Vidyapati Kumar (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) is a teacher who has been demoted, just because he had accused a minister's son of cheating. Ravi's family moves to Kashipur hoping that things would change for better. But what they find is they are faced with same old circumstances, with corrupt Ministers ruling the city and using their power in unfair manner. In Kashipur, Ravi meets Kiran (Juhi Chawla) and falls in love with her. However, Ravi is fed up with his life and the humiliation he has to face from the town fellows. However, the minister's goons and their malpractices are rapidly rising in the town. Not able to sit quiet anymore, Anil decides to revolt. But corruption plays its cruel game again, and Ravi is sent behind the bars. However, Kiran and others decide to campaign for Ravi so as to remove the corrupt people from their position of power. Will Kiran and company succeed in doing that? Will Ravi prove his worth to his father and everyone else?
