    Sapna Mera…….

The last time we saw Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan together was in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam made by a brilliant director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, which raised the standards of the director too. Both the actors gave one of their memorable roles on that film. Almost after a decade they both come back with another brilliant director Vipul Shah. But unlike last time which had a romantic theme, this time the tale is of friendship, dreams, passion and jealousy. So will the actors spark the same fireworks they did last time or as usual Hindi films this too will be a just proposal without any soul trying to capture only the star status. Let’s find out.

“London Dreams” is a story of two friends Arjun {Ajay Devgan} and Manu {Salman Khan}. Arjun is focused from his childhood and has great dedication towards music which is considered taboo by his father and uncle. Manu is happy go lucky desi guy who has gift of music but no dedication towards it. Arjun loses his father and lands in London where he starts focusing on his passion and grows up to form a band with Zoaib {Ranvijay}, Waseem{ aditya} and Priya {Asin}. He also gets his childhood buddy from India to join his band and together they star performing. Arjun has a childhood dream of performing in Wembley Stadium and works hard to reach close to that dream. But fate has something else written for him, all the fame which he deserved goes to Manu who becomes the heartthrob of the nation. This leads Arjun towards jealousy for manu and thus he starts plotting against him in this high voltage drama.

Story is nothing new, but not bad too. Screenplay is very good especially in the second half of the film barring the weak climax. There are some brilliant scenes which lifts the film, scenes like Arjun’s struggle in London to achieve his dreams, Salman’s first time on stage, Salman and Ajay on composing of Tere Aane Se song, Ajay Apologizing the drunk Salman, Salmans Outburst towards press and Ajay Devgans Anti Climax speech in Wembley Stadium. The film is quite gripping except for some unwanted songs which hampers the flow of the film. Sadly the climax is the biggest letdown in this film. Camera work is good and all the concert scenes are captured brilliantly.

Music by Shankar Ehasan loy is good but not as rocking as Rock On. Still you will love Man Ko Ati Bahve, Shola, Khanabadosh and Barso Barso. Rest all are strictly ok and could had been avoided, especially the climax song which drags a lot.

Vipul Shah had made good films and majority of them has out and out drama. So out here too we have the same and at times the drama goes quite high and the film is entertaining overall except the climax. There are many cinematic liberties taken in this film. Looks like the maker could not handle the heat the drama created and thus settled out for a simple and weak climax which makes all the good points of the film going in vain.

On performance basis the movie belongs to Ajay Devgan who has given a powerful and fantastic performance. When it comes to such roles this guy is genius, he expresses himself with his dialogs delivery, body language and eyes. We miss the Wanted Spark in Salman Khan’s Performance, but still he manages to do justice to his character in the film. At times he is funny and at times bit irritating especially with his “Pra” dialogs. Asin looks beautiful and play her part with total conviction, though we wanted more of her. Watch out for her combo dance at her home. Ranvijay is impressive along with Aditya and Om Puri.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai dum ?

Dum hai kaafi drama aura chi performances hai, leking thanks to overdose of songs and weak climax the movie settles for an above average film. Unlike Sanjay Leela Bhansali this film might not raise the standards of Vipul Shah but surely won’t go down too. The movie is intresting till last 20-30 mins where one does wish that kaash mera sapna too jata and the dream would had been an sweet dream. But afsoos yeh ho na saka. Still have a watch for some good songs, excellent performances and high voltage drama.
