    Love Sex Aur Dhokha rating: 8 out of 10(Divya Solgama wrote on 19 Mar 2010)

    It’s quite routine for today’s aspiring directors to get inspired by world cinema. But very few try to adapt the vision and rest all fall for Plagiarism. Some make frame to frame copy, some change it to rural India, etc but overall has total hangover of the Pseudo intellectual stuff and thus fail to connect to its Indian audience, for whom the film is made. Dibakar Banerjee is one of those few directors who follow the vision and not the fad. Let’s find out how much more has the vision grown, in compared to his last few great work, or has fallen b low the expectation.

    'LSD' is collage of three short stories showcasing love, sex and dhokha. The love story features a teen romance between a student Rahul (Anshuman Jha) who is making his diploma film and his heroine Shruti (Shruti). The second story features a relationship in a supermarket between a sales girl Rashmi (Neha Chauhan) and a looser Adarsh (Raj Kumar Yadav) who wants to make some quick bucks by making some mms. The final installment features a sting operation camera man Prabhat (Amit Sial) and an aspiring model Naina Biswas (Arya Banerjee) wanting to feature in a music Video.

    Story is one of a top 3 U.S.P of this film, the way it’s been written and later adapted into a superb screenplay is sheer genius. One can relate with almost every stories. All stories are so interesting and gripping. They are very well interlinked with each other. But on the flip side the last story and particularly the climax shot is bit below the mark and raises some confusions and question, Thus leaving us bit unsatisfied. Editing is of top notch. Camera work is brilliant, all the usage of different type of camera’s is a visual treat and something to feel proud of as it’s done in our Indian films for first time.

    Music is good, particularly the title track. Background music goes very well with the film.

    Dibakar Banerjee has proved his brilliance with his last two films, and his decision of moving ahead and making a different type of cinema deserves full applause. His vision is certainly on the level of those ace world cinema makers and beautifully made in term of cinema for Indian audience. We just wished that if he could have shown the usage of Video footages of the first love story in any other stories or a better justified or morbid ending instead of such abrupt ending. If he had taken care of these points the film would had been a masterpiece. On other side its only the ace direction and superb technical usage which makes us sit and enjoy the whole film in which there is no know face at all. This proves that if you have your vision in right place and with good script you don’t need any face to sell the film. The film speaks for itself.

    On performance basis Anshuman Jha and Shruti looked cute and totally lovable. Neha Chauhan impresses the most, sadly Raj Kumar yadav in comparison with her end up on average note. Amit Sial and Arya Banerjee both deliver a fine performance which is well supported by Herry Tangdi.

    So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai dum?

    Dum hain total different type ka dum hain, though for mass audience there is nothing much as they might find more of Dhokha and hardly any Sex in it. The weak and confusing climax might be bit disappointment for some. But people wanting to watch something different, this is the film for you which work on only S.T.D {Story, Technicality and Direction}
