    “God save the Future”

‘Love Story 2050’, India’s first big scale futuristic film with loads of money on stake and a launch pad of a producer’s son. Beside all these the controversies, the hype, the real life romance, etc creates a proper buzz for the film. But does this buzz along with 60cr budget go in favour of the movie???

Karan {Harman} is a rich and lonely son of Mr.Oberoi{Dalip Tahil} based in Australia. In a vacation he accidentally meets Sana {Priyanka Chopra} and falls in love with her. After few dates they both get separated and thus Karan tries to find Sana. He finds her out and both decide to get married. Sadly sana meets an accident and leave Karan alone. Karan’s Uncle Ya {Boman Irani} helps karan and takes him to future through his time machine in Mumbai 2050. There they find Zeisha who is Sana reincarnated in that era. Karan and Uncle Ya have a mission of getting Sana back to 2008 within a time limit. Thus starts the journey to the future.

Annu Maliks music is ok but not great. The background score of the film is bad and repetitive at places. Cinematography is of average quality but the locations are good. Special effects are good but not to match the international standards. If you are finding a story in this love story then sorry there is hardly any. The screenplay is bad. But if you are looking out for some good cinematic liberties then there are loads of them. {Imagine a butterfly which is there in 2008, also appears in 2050}. The pace of this three hour movie is slow which makes it even worse for the fate of this ill fated film.

Director Harry Baweja has tried to make this futuristic film with his pre 90’s era style. He decided to mix future with reincarnation, which sounds and looks very bad. His way of treating this film was not as a sci-fi film but more like an average masala drama. Instead of taking a fresh face as hero the movie needed a fresh director with good and futuristic vision.

Harman looks good, acts confidently, dances well but everywhere resembles lot to Hrithik Roshan. His dialogs delivery, style everything reminds of Hrithik. This at one point of time starts irritating. He seriously needs to come out of Hrithik hangover. Priyanka Chopra was strickly ok. Her appearance did not add any attraction to the character of sana. Boman Irani looked least interested in this project. Archana puransingh, Dalip tahir were wasted.

So….”bol meri ‘Filmi Khopdi’ is film mein kitna hain dum???”

Kuch khaas nahin. Sci-fiction ka attempt kiya hain par bahut hi bura attempt. First half of the movie was simple and slow, which makes us wait for the second half. But when the second half starts one wonder and rethinks that more that this futuristic half part the simple part looked much better. The funny robots, stupid theories, masked villains, wacky make ups, etc makes us think if this is the future then ‘God save the Future.’

    Rating - *1/2
