Few decades back middle aged heroes use to romance on screen and were called as King of Romance. Later these actors even appeared in college stories. In between came few films which had all new comers, but then the movie use to shift from the teen story to matured romance or melodrama. Very few stick to their theme. Then there are films where a star kid is launched and most of the times again the story starts with college and ends up as a melodrama. The reason for such films was to cater the all age audience. But now with the changing times, films are being made with keeping in mind the target audience. Thus along with Yash Raj films {in their new Avatar- Y-Films} many more productions house have arrived with fresh teen films catering to the targeted audience. The first of this lot starts with ‘Luv Ka The End’, a films which hardly has any know or star face and instead of thinking of box office values, focuses on the content and the requirement of the film. Most of the times, such gamble does not pay, but having a backing of such a big banner there are chances of turning the odds. So let’s find out where the lucky dice lands in this game of teen roulette.

“Love Ka The End” is story of Reah {Shraddha Kapoor} who is turning 18 after completion of her final exam. She and her boyfriend Luv {Taaha Shah} plans a perfect Birthday celebration by going out for an expensive dinner and later making love. Reah had dreamt about this from a long time and is totally excited for this night out. But due to some reasons she has to cancel the plans and stay home and party with her girl friends Sonia {Sreejita De} and Jugs {Pushtiie Shakti}. In the shopping mall they come to know the real side of Luv. The whole reason for Luv, a song of rich man falling in for such a simple girl was to win points for a game played by Billionaires son. Reah and her friends decide to teach Luv a lesson and thus start the fun filled ride making hell for Luv Nanda.

Story has shades from loads of Hollywood Teen/Date/Girl Romance type films. But the way it’s been blended is superb. Screenplay is total entertaining especially in the first half of the film, which is just like a roller coaster ride. Every fast ride’s have their bumps and same goes out here too as post interval the movie has few bumps and slows down the excitement, but manages to reach its destination with the same speed towards the end. There are some entertaining scenes like the girls tiff, Reah and her sister scenes, All three girls in Shopping Mall, Bumpy reveling Luvs Billionaire club, Golu-Luv talks, Reah at Luv’s home, Luv in restaurant, Luv riding Natasha’s car, Luv in Dance Bar, Golu taking about Luv’s status, Happy Birthday song in police van and the finale. On the flip side the whole grandmother part was horrible and highly irritating. It should have been avoided. Also the pre-climax should have some more punishment moments. There are few loopholes, but thanks to the entertainment value, we don’t mind them. Dialogs are witty and cater the generation x. Camera work and editing is fine.

Music by Ram Sampath is enjoyable. My fav is the Freak Out song whose video is fantastic. Tonight is a sweet fairy tale type song, reminds you of old Hollywood musicals, Luv Ka The End and FUN are fine. Mutton song is hilarious.

Director Bumpy is a popular name for all those who love MTV-Roadies. Thus the expectations were high and one does expect some hard core entertainment and he succeeds by meeting up to the expectations. Still he could have made it peppier and youthful, but I guess for starters this is fine. His way of handling the story is good, fast and entertaining. Only if he could have kept the same pace in middle of the film, the movie would have been total rocking.

Shraddha Kapoor shines out in the lead role and makes you connect with her. Looking at her confident performance, one can say the genes dint go wrong this time. Taaha Shah in the title role gives a strong performance and I am sure if he plays his card right, we might have a good confident actor in our industry for a long run. Sreejita De and Pushtiie Shakti are outstanding. Archana Puransingh and others are just average. Ali Zafar as the star attractions might work with the target audience.

So bol meri ‘Filmi Khopdi’ is film mein kitna hai Dum ?

Dum hai, total entertaining time pass dum hai. Though the movie is for today’s face book generation, but thanks to the entertainment content the movie will cater to the non targeted audience also. As the movie credits roll down and the makers show few more scenes from the film, one does wish for more fun and yes I did hear few girls telling ‘No!! pls don’t end, keep going’. Looks like these girls are going to rock, rock hard.
