The film is about the lives of Bengalis , the changes that have taken place in the society, the way the community has changed or how other communities look at us . It is about relationships, it is discovering yourself and it is also about revaluation. The patriarch of the family played by Soumitra Chatterjee has a son who has 3 sons, one of whom is married. The eldest is married and stays in the U.S, but returns to start a restaurant, the second son works in a company and the third son is an aspiring actor. The entire family stays together in their ancestral house. The old man has an interesting take on life and is with the times. In fact, he even offers advice to a young girl on how to propose to her guy. Rahul, the eldest son gets in to an extra marital affair with June as there is a mental gap between him and his wife, the 2nd brother Ronny breaks up and patches up from time to time with his Marwari girlfriend though finally he does finally find a soul mate in his college mate, Ishani. The youngest brother Raju , an aspiring actor hooks up with his Marwari girl friend in the strangest circumstances. Raju and Ronny seem to be the most confused souls around. Yet every character rediscover themselves and people around them through every step they take in their lives. Ishani played by Raima is probably the only character who knows exactly what she is doing .
