Madagascar 2 is short, funny, yet leaves the audience for more.
This time, the four friends (Marty, Alex, Melman, Gloria) plan ind themselves stranded in the shores of Madagascar, Africa, where, Alex meets his parents and is told about his past.) They realise about their own problems in life and soon they become separated from each other.
How they overcome their problems is what the film is all about.
The writers do a decently good job, packing in gags and punches connected to recent films. The penguins are amazing as well as Sacha Baron Cohen as the lemur King.
The film lacks in bringing an emotional touch with the characters and the audience, which was evident in films like Stuart Little, Wall-e, Ratatouille and Finding Nemo.
Also there are too many sub-plots and that too in a short film (about 80 mins), which means that most of the plots are not developed in the best possible way.
Even the villain-ish angle is not that convincing and it falls flat.
The old lady is the surprise package of the film, and is well connected in the story (in three-four segments). Kids will love the Hippo-dance segments, but apart from this may not appeal too much to them!
Watch if there is no other great film playing!
