Director Anjan Dutt’s Madly Bangali has explored a new dimension of Bengali films. This movie is essentially about a Bengali rock band named “Madly Bangali” and its band members Pablo, Benji, Baji and Neon. This film shows the relation of the band members with their family members, their family problems and also their love-relations and Bobby uncle. The movie runs fast enough to show all these within 2 hrs & 10mins. The making of the movie differentiates it from the other typical Tollywood projects. It’s a fresh and intelligent presentation by the makers. Indranil Mukherjee’s Camerawork is undoubtedly good. All the characters are played well by the artists. The new comers have also shown their skills in acting. Anjan Dutt’s performance is also noteworthy as he plays an important character, a self-employed manager of the band Madly Bangali. As the movie is about a rock band, music is the central demand of the movie, and Neil Dutt’s music meets the expectations of the viewers though it doesn’t come out of the style of Anjan Dutt.
The movie also deals with some serious issues as well, like Drug addiction, Terrorism, the impact of parent’s divorce on a child, pre-marital pregnancy and the aimless life of this young generation. All these problems are dealt well, sometimes with an answer and sometimes without one.
