My Rating

  • Mahakaal rating: 3 out of 10(Chandi Mukherjee wrote on 01 Nov 2008)

This film is worse than any 3rd graded Hindi film of the early seventies. Bad plot, bad screenplay, bad dialogue and bad direction.

The director is Swapan Ghoshal and the story-screenplay is by Durba Ghosal. I haven”t heard of them but probably great Bumba da and Tapas Paul must had confidence on him otherwise why they had participitated in such a nonsense film which is released last Friday?

Tapas Paul is a professor who is more busy in “dishum-dishum” than giving class lectures to his students. He has a happy family with wife Laboni Sarkar, sister Pushpita Mukherjee and brother Prosenjit. But 15 years ago when he was young he made a great mistake by sending a local goon Digbijoy (Kaushik Banerjee) to jail for 15 years for killing the darwan of the college where he was a professor. Since then his name was “Professor” to Digbijoy and also in the script.

The film starts 15 years later when Digbijoy comes out of jail and starts killing businessmen. But this time all his hair has turned white which was all black before 15 years. But strange enough Tapas Paul and Laboni Sarkar remain the same what they were exactly 15 years before.

Digbijoy lives in a palace which looks like a fort of the Mughals with his assistants or rather the all known stuntmen of Tollywood. These stuntmen, who were supposed to be great goons, got such thrashing from single- handed Tapas and Prosenjit, it will come to everybody’s mind why Digbijoy didn’t depute both the brothers instead of those idiot goons.

Digbijoy wanted to ruin Tapas’s life. And he succeeded in that and in that case a police inspector Lahiri (Rajesh Sharma) and a café owner Bipin Sharma (Rajatava Dutta) helped him a lot and instead they received at least a few lacs of Rupees from Digbijoy. What did they do? They killed Tapas and sent Prosenjit to jail for killing his brother which was a false charge as only the audience knew the truth not the judge. They gang raped Tapas’s sister. Poor Pushpita!! Probably she didn’t know her destiny when she was agreed to do the role. She was killed after being raped. Laboni committed suicide. What happened to their daughter? She was taken care of by Prosenjit’s lover. Well …who is she? No body knows.

And then it comes the revenge time for Bumba da He flew from jail and after lots of action the fall of the evil and the film ends.
There are two item dance numbers in the Digbijoy’s den which only can draw the audience and nothing else.
