Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva comes to her father's house without any invitation. Her father, Dakkha is doing a jagna in his house, and invited all his daughters except Sati. Anyway, Sati comes, but Dakkha, who can't tollerate Lord Shiva, starts to hurl insults at Shiva. Sati, thoroughly insulted, commits suicide. Shiva comes & starts to dance with the dead body of his wife. The whole universe trembled because of his ' Tandan Nritya' and comes near to destruction. Brahma, to save the universe, decides to cut off the dead body in pieces, because Shiva will not stop his dance till the dead body is with him. Brahma hurls the ' Chakra' - which starts to cut off the body of Sati. Every piece of her body falls upon the earth and makes a sacred place. The pupils of her eyes, fall upon a place which is now renowned as 'Tarapith'. Pupil or ' Nayantara' makes the name of ' Tarapith'. The great sacred place of ' Ma Tara' or Goddess Tara. A tourist bus is now running for Tarapith. There are Lawyer Sameer Sen, his family and Police officer Ajoy Roy and his family. Sammer Sen is a great devotee of ' Ma Tara'. An unknown lady, who comes in the time of his family's crisis, is believed to be the godess herself. On the contrary, Ajoy Roy, who has a spastic boy, Shankar, doesn't believe in god, and is going to Tarapith only for his wife Getastree's request. These two families reach the sacred place and meet with the various saints. They come to know how ' Bamakhapa' searched for the godess and got her; how a zamindar got back his son's life and made the temple by the blessings of godess. At last, they meet with "Pagla baba' - a great devotee, and Shanker is cured by him. All of them, including Ajoy, pray to the godess of Tarapith.
