Mahima Chaudhry (real name Ritu Chaudhry) was born on Spetmeber 13, 1973 in British Columbia. She did her schooling from Loretto, Darjeeling. She belonged to a high-class Punjabi Family. Mahima shot to fame when she did a Pepsi commercial with Aishwarya Rai. This Ad brought her in the notice of famous film maker Subhash Ghai.
Mahima Chaudhry made her debut with Subhash Ghai’s Pardes (1997) opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The film was a huge hit and Mahima Chaudhry became one of the most sought-after young talents in Bollywood.
Mahima Chaudhry signed many films after Pardes. However, very few of them were successful. 2000 was quite a good year for Mahima, where she had 2 hits, and her performance in Dhadkan (2000) was appreciated a lot. Mahima Chaudhry had some big banner films with her, but unfortunately they didn’t work at Box-office.
Mahima Chaudhry soon started doing lesser films, as most of her films flopped badly. By 2003, She had to resort to small roles in Baghban (2003) and LOC Kargil (2003) to keep her career sailing. The next few years saw Mahima Chaudhry do some near B-grade films. She had a lot of hopes from Tanuja Chandra’s Film Star. Unfortunately, The film never saw the day of the light. All her films – be it Dobara (2004), Souten (2005) or Kudiyon ka hai Jamana (2007) bombed.
Mahima Chaudhry won the Filmfare Best Debut award in 1997.
Mahima Chaudhry was re-christened Mahima by her mentor Subhash Ghai. She is married to Bobby Mukherjee, and has a daughter from him, called Aryana.
