A PLEASANT ENOUGH LISTEN - BUT SAJID - WAJID NEED TO GET INTO A STYLE OF THEIR OWN (NO INSPIRATION FROM S-E-L PLEASE!)
A pleasant album from Sajid - Wajid in the form of Main Aurr Mrs Khanna. The songs are already gaining popularity, aided well by timely television promos as well. An album which grows on you, on subsequent listens.
Don't Say Alvida - The Sonu - Shreya slow - romantic song is very visible (on TV) and audible (on radio stations) and does grow on you. Sonu's Urdu pronounciations and expression are quite a treat.
Happening - The take on 'Kajra Re' (visually) - Preity Zinta's item number in the movie which is also geting good publicity these days, is in the Kajra Re (by S-E-L) genre, in terms of the audio as well. Sunidhi performs as per requirement. Just a little louder than needed perhaps!
Rabba - Again a gem by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, sung quite beautifully. The expression of melancholy and desperation is quite exquisite and touches the heart!
Tum Ne Socha - is a refreshing song, set to the beat of the ever popular track of the yesteryears - Every Breath You Take by Police. Sung well by Wajid himself and Shreya.
Mrs. Khanna - the title track with a some bhangra - shangra thrown in for good measure sounds a lot like 'Pretty Woman' from S-E-L's Kal Ho Na Ho (What's with Sajid - Wajid's S - E - L fixation?!!!), but disappoints on the whole. Not a number you'd feel like coming back to, in the album.
The album has a slow and sad version of 'Don't Say Alvida' by Shreya which is ok and a remixed version each of 'Happening' and 'Don't Say Alvida'.
All and all a nice listening experience!
