Just me, me and Me.
In Hollywood at the Christmas time they have one or two romantic comedy which spreads love in the festive season. Out here in our country too we have been following the same rituals for years in form of Maine Pyar Kiya, Raja Hindustani, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and many more romantic films. These films work with family audience who like to see such sweet films with good messages and love. Maybe looking at this only Producer Sohail Khan decided to release his latest venture Main Aur Mrs Khanna to capture the festival sprit. But he has forgotten that there have been many times where such films have gone drastically wrong too. So let’s find out how well the intuition of Sohail Khan pays off ?
“Main aur Mrs.Khanna” is story of Raina [Kareena Kapoor] who is an orphan and gets married to Samir Khanna [Salman Khan]. Together they move to Australia and settle off over there, but after few years of marriage Samir goes through a rough financial path in his life. Thus he decides to move over to Singapore but does not want to take Raina with her thus he wants to send her to India and stay with his parents. Raina on other hand want to be independent and want to wait for Samir, thus she stays back in Australia. She is helped by her friends [Nauheed Cyrusi, Mahek Chahal]. At this time she meets Aakash [Sohal Khan] who later also becomes her friend. Aakash starts loving Raina and things starts shaping up in his favor and at that time Samir comes back. What happens next is all the film about.
Story of this film is nothing great. But the worst part is the screenplay of the film which is so dull and at times boring. Dialogs are just average and does not capture the spirit of the film. The movie has such a slow pace that at many times you start loosing interest in the film. There are so many scenes which one looks quite clinched and unreal. The relationship between Salman and Kareena is neither established nor once can connect to why they are going through the rough patch. The problems looks so simple that it can be solved in a jiffy, but out here they have made a film on it. Yes the movie does capture your attention in second half for some scenes involving salman khan along with the climax scene featuring Deepika Padukone, but that’s it. Looks like the editor to must have taken a vacation to Australia while the making of this film.
Music by Sajid Wajid is good and soothing. Don’t say Alvida is the best thing to happen to the film. The usage of R.D.Burman’s Bade Ache Lagte hain is not visually great but on audio level gets you back in the film.
Director Prem Soni has made a film keeping in mind a scene from Raj Kapoors “Mera Naam Joker”. The scene which involved Manoj Kumar and Rishi Kapoor talking over Simmi Garewal. Based on this scene the director has woven in a full fledge film, but he has forgotten that he is not Shri Raj Kapoor and also Salman Khan and Sohail Khan are neither Manoj Kumar or Rishi Kapoor. He has not used the potential of Salman khan in proper manner and the fans will feel cheated for it. But the director has good amount of patience and I guess he does expect the same from his audience, but my suggestion will be for him to move over to T.V Serials for which such one liner subjects are fine.
Salman Khan is good but not to his best in this small and stale role, for his fans who will feel cheated pls go and watch wanted again. Kareena Kapoor is good but I still wonder why she keeps smiling in the serious scenes also, has the sohail khan effect catched her or was it there earlier too. Sohail Khan has tried to be in control but sorry dear we can’t accept you as a opposition to salman and romancing kareena. Cameos by Bappi Lahiri, Nauheed Cyrusi, Mahek Chahal, Dino Morea are ok. Preity Zinta Desperately tries to fit in Aishwariya rais shoes of Kajrare but fails. Yash Tonk is ok.
So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hai dum ?
Kutch Khaas dum nahin hain. The gamble of releasing this film in between two big and entertainers has gone wrong. And thus I guess the audience who are too smart to smell a film now a day’s has understood what lies beneath this film. Maybe that was the reason that in this film there was hardly any audience. Just like sohail khan in the film I too felt in the cinema hall that it’s just me, me and me.
