Dharamraj (Om Shivpuri) is a well known industrialist and is partners with Naglingam Reddy (Kader Khan), Nagendra(Ranjeet) and Dhanraj(Prem Chopra). Rajeshwar(Rajesh Khanna) who is the son of Dharamraj falls in love with Bharati(Sridevi) at first sight, but Bharati doesn't like him. One day, when Bharati sees the real Rajeshwar who is caring and helpful towards the poor, she gets impressed and starts liking Rajeshwar and falls in love with him. Her father is a school teacher and she lives with her two small brothers. Tilak(Jeetendra) who is the neighbour of Bharati doesn't have good relations with Rajeshwar due to the fight of rich vs the poor. Tilak who is unemployed gets the job of a truck driver for transport of medicines. But when one day he comes to know that fake medicines are mixed and sent, he tries to inform the police. Dharamraj is impressed by Tilak's honesty and decides to give him the job of a cashier in his industry. One day, around 2 lakhs rupees are found missing from the safe of Tilak and all blame comes upon Tilak for stealing the money. Then, suddenly mother of Tilak could get upper post. Rajeshwar and Tilak enquire with their father and mother respectively about the incident which Tilak's mother knows. What effect will it have on Tilak and Rajeshwar? Will the wrong deeds of Naglingam Reddy, Nagendra and Dhanraj ever get caught, who not only steal jewellery and save them in the temple but also sell girls for gold biscuits?
