Bikash Roy’s directorial venture “Marutirtha Hinglaj” was one of the biggest commercial hits in the history of Bangla Cinema. The film became a rage not only because of its star cast, but also because of its message of spiritual love, sacrifice & ardent determination. The story was about a host of pilgrims traveling from mainland to the deepest interiors of the rocky terrains of central India & thereby threatening their own lives. The film was created in the early 1960’s & starred Bikash Roy himself, Anil Chatterjee, Pahari Sanyal, Chadrabati, Shyam Laha, Uttam Kumar & Sabitri Chatterjee. The film was scripted & produced by Bikash Roy (Bikash Roy Productions Pvt Ltd) himself. The pivotal crux of this film lay in its music crated by the legendary Hemanta Mukhopadhyay. The mystic, eternal feel of the India Spiritual culture of humanism was perfectly emblemed in Hemanta’s melody. The songs like “Tumar Bhubone Mago eto Paap…” & “Katodur, Ar katodur, bolo Maa…” created a different consciousness through decades in the sentiment of Bengalis.
