Many years ago Yash Chopra gave us a movie 'LAMHE' which failed at that time and it was said that the theme was quite advanced and Indian cinegoers were not ready to accept the concept. One more example being 'SILSILA'. But now the time has changed. The young directors are now trying many new conepts and stories which were not even thought of a few years ago and public also love all the new offerings.
Director 'Ali Abbas Zafar' has come up with this movie 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' with the BOLD theme wherein the lead actor falls in Love with his own brother's Dulhan...and its quite clear from the promos when Imran says..."saala pyar bhi hua to apne brother ki dulhan se..".
Let's see whether Yashraj's this latest venture does justice to this bold theme as now the time has been changed since LAMHE days....
When this Yash Raj movie was announced there were certain rumours that this will be one of the BOLDEST trend setting movie from YRF movie where the younger brother Imran Khan who's is in love with his Sister-in-law Katrina. There were many questions like how's the movie going to deal with this odd situation? how will Imran's character propose his love to his Bhabhi? How will Katrina react to the proposal? How will his brother react? Will family and society accept their love? etc....So lets see what all has Ali offered and how much is acceptable?
The movie begins with the Break-up of Luv (Ali Zafar) from Piyali (Tara). Aaj kal ka luv---so ending with Break-up..quite accepted.
Assistant Director Kush (Imran Khan) attends the success party of his movie with friends. The name of this JOHN (in Special apperance) starrer movie is 'Ishq Kamina'...quite accepted (also considering John's recent breakup from Bips). The name 'Ishq Kamina' also raises the bar to be ready to accept more bold definitions of Love this time as Yashji is the king of Romance and had always given more and more dimensions to Love Stories.
Heart-broken Luv gives the responsibility of searching suitable bride to his brother brother Kush and not the parents as thier thinking is out-dated and Kush is more aware of Luv's likings (u see both liked Madhuri Dixit when they were kids).
    Chalo yeh bhi accept kiya.
Amongst many of the to-be-brides Kuch selects Dimple Dixit (Katrina Kaif) who also is teh boldest amongs all of them. Check the Rocking 'Dhunki' song to believe it. Is the surname Dixit did any trick too as Bro's childhood love was Madhuri Dixit.
    Quite Bold.
And then the Love blossoms between Kush and DImple during the marriage arrangements quite expected and hence accepted too. And all izz well till the Inteval.
But post Interval ....hey ? hey ? hey? ....what's going on next...Aliji yeh kya hua...sara BOLDness kahan gaya?
The movie dragged dragged and dragged and ended with a childish Climax. Not accepted at all? Very poor ending.

Performances : Katrina is at her best. she is jaan of teh film. watch it for her...
"Bhabhi bahut Frank Hai" cute bhi, bold bhi, beautiful bhi, badmash bhi.
    Imran is as usual...confused expressions.
Ali Zafar sometimes you feel pity at him (going by the role he has been given) and the next time you get angry on him (going by the role he has enacted).
Debutante Tara is just Ok..I think she was considered speaically for the Item Number and role was extended...she looked good in 'Do Dhari Talwaar Yaar..."
Other songs are also very good...quite like Music Videos and watchable. The best being the title song in Opening Titles. Imran had tried all 3 superhit khans here and throughout the movie as well with dialougues like Otteri, Aaila, Ek baar maine Committment Kar di...etc.
Then there is one AJJU bhiaya who is kind of spoofing Mr Khan of 'My Name is Khan'.
All parents are just Ok and doing their usual acting But fathers Kanwaljeet Singh and Parikhsit Sahni had a little better than the mothers. Actor enacting on of Imran's friend Shobhit reminds of Piyush Mishra. As movie progressed more was expected from him...but nothing substantial comes from him at later stage.
    So conclusion kya hai???
Sorry Bhai...Dont go with many fact any expectations...Go only to wathc teh DULHAN... Katrina...Dum Maro Dum style mein Mast Malang Katrina.
