Socially and economically backward women have often been treated differently than their male counterparts. The social condition of women started changing with the evolution of women's rights movements. Ratna and Ritu, two differently placed women fought to prove this. 2 families shown here had been without an elderly house-wife and both the daughters protested about female oppression. Extreme poverty makes Roni a smuggler, though his prime moto is to serve his father and sister. But Ratna, his sister thinks that gods grace and salvation are bestowed as gifts upon those who trust in the rightousness of god doing good works and denying oneself of physical pleasure. Whether or not an individual man who commits an act of violence is not the main theme here. The fact that so many men entitled to express their frustration or anger or lust for sex to so many individual women shows how deeply the lessons of dominance and violence have been learned. The move "mayera-o-manush" completes the truth of that power group. Women cannot be underestimated and that point is proved in mayera-o-manush.
