Satyaranjan Banerjee lives with his two sons and daughter. His elder son Sushovan is an income tax officer and the younger son Amu a service holder. Amu is married with a child. Satyaranjan’s daughter is in college. One day Satyaranjan gets introduced to Parama. Parama’s wonderful voice charms Satyaranjan and he decides to have her as his daughter-in-law. Sushovan and Parama tie the knot. Sushovan has a new assignment - the income tax return files of a dishonest businessman, Kunal Sen. As Kunal comes to know that Sushovan is a very strict and honest officer, he engages his employee Maniklal to make a financial deal with Sushovan who rejects the offer and gives Maniklal a police threat. Sushovon’s father dies and his younger brother Amu leaves home with his family to reside separately. Kunal and Maniklal conspire and appoint hotel singer Sucheta Roy to get the documents from Sushovan’s custody. Sucheta and Sushovan know each other because they were in the same college. Sucheta begins a game of love with Sushovan in order to get close to him and she and Manikla take Parama into their confidence to show her a false relationship of love between Sucheta and Sushovan. But Sucheta can’t get the documents in spite of everything. Soon Sucheta comes to know that Kunal Sen is the criminal for whom her mother had died leaving her father crazy. She exposes the conspiracy to Sushovan but gets murdered. Sushovan raids Kunal's residence and seizes illegal cash and gold. Kunal tries to kill Sushovan. The police arrest him. Though parama tries to commit suicide she has been saved by the doctors and at last overcoming all misunderstandings, Sushovan and Parama reunite again.
