This particular film was supposed to release quite a few months back, but unfortunately the release got delayed and it has been released now. It has got two newcomers in the lead Sujoy and Priyadarshini. It is a tragic love story in the sense that though both the hero and the heroine survive, the heroine loses her memory completely in an accident at the end. The tale goes like this –
Shanu and Pari stay in the same complex and cant bear the sight of each other. Shanu is obsessed with Pari and often pesters her. He is also a good for nothing fellow who does nothing. Pari’s parents want to get married to Badshah, their friend’s son. A few incidents take place which makes Pari turn to Shanu. Slowly she falls in love with him. One day when his bike breaks down, they take a ride in a truck but are discovered by Pari’s father. She is forbidden to mix with Shanu and the two families are at war. When Pari’s aunt takes her to her home one day for some rituals before her marriage, Shanu’s and his friends literally ‘kidnap’ Pari and take her away. Shanu and Pari spend the night together and sleep together. In the morning Pari and Shanu have a row regarding this matter and she decides to leave immediately. On the road she comes across Badshah and she tries to flee from his clutches as well, but meets with a fatal accident as does Sujoy. Pari survives the accident, but completely loses her memory.
Sujoy and Priyadarshini have been termed as ‘debutantes’ though in reality a film of theirs ‘Krodh’ costarring Jishu has already been released on Christmas so this doesn’t remain their debut. The tale is nothing new nor is it interesting. Sujoy isn’t too much of an actor just like the lead actress Priyadarshini. She definitely can’t even cry properly and when she tries to, it sounds or looks terrible. The songs are also below average. Kharaj Mukherjee as Shanu’s father is the best thing about the film as he is the best of the lot. Kamalika Banerjee who is not too old herself is seen playing Priyadarshini’s mother in the film. What a surprise! Raj Mukherjee who made the quite memorable ’Nagardola’;(in fact he started his career with that) then became a commercial director and went on making one bad film after another(this included).
