The movie did strike an emotional chord.

What helped it tremendously was performances by some powerful actors like Paresh Rawal (who shows how seasoned he is once again), Kay Kay Menon, Irrfan Khan. Soha surprises with a sensitively portrayed performance while Madhavan is good as well.

The scenes of the bomb blasts themselves, could have been done better. No willing suspension of disbelief here. It looked as if the scene had been re - constructed very well, which defeats the very purpose of those scenes in the movie. As a part of the audience I could ... » read more

A very moving film...manages to strike a chord right from the beginning. The sufferings portrayed by the various characters after the blasts are painfully realistic. For the first time perhaps, such a delicate and sensitive issue has been handled in such a mature manner. Paresh Rawal, as always delivers a flawless performance. Madhavan is good as is Soha. Irrfan Khan however is a show-stealer. The prejudice felt by Kay Kay Menon towards Muslims is something a lot of us feel ourselves and are eager to show at the slightest hint. Also the irony of SMS voting at the time ... » read more

The guilty conscience expressed by Rawal on not being able to do anything worthwhile in his life is in a way an insight into most Indians. The general sense of frustration and defeat felt by the middle and lower classes is beautifully shown by Menon and Irrfan. Soha at times looks and talks stiff. The end could have been less dragged-it brought us close to yawning. One noticeable character was the man who played Kadam. His performance was controlled yet expressive. The movie sure makes you think and reach out to those who suffered and survived. A movie worth a second watch. » read more

Shows how a few seconds of madness can change the outlook of different people, how the serial blasts in the Mumbai trains brought out the best and the worst within them. The film is slow, and tends to drag in parts, but definitely watchable. Caution: My views 'are' biased as Mumbai IS meri Jaan, seldom i dislike anything that involves that city. » read more

    In Good Spirit...

One Terror Incident and there are thousands of stories to be said.
We have heard these stories but only few directors have made it to Indian Silver screen, Director Nishikant Kamat join the small but elite group of those creative directors.

"Mumbai Meri Jaan" deals with the After Effects of Mumbai Serial train blast in 2006. There are various characters like Rupali [Soha Ali Khan], A news reporter who loves her work and covers the stories based on human calamities. Nikhil [R.Madhavan] a hard working executive who loves his country, ... » read more

    India Mera Jaan

The movie deals with the lives of few people around the event of train blasts that shook Mumbai on 11th July, 2006. It shows, how unrelated people and their lives are linked to one event that changed the cityscape for ever. Watch out for great performance from Paresh Rawal (Patil), a cop who is about to retire around the time, the blasts occured. He has accepted the system and learnt to make best use of his position and has no qualms about accepting bribes as he has to fend for himself. He has developed unique sense of humour to maintain good spirits ... » read more
