    Mumbai Meri Jaan is story of 5 characters and how they deal with the aftermath effect of the bomb blast on 7th July 2006 in local trains of Mumbai. Madhvan is a senior executive in some corporate house and uses local trains to commute though he can very well afford a car. He happens to be in one of trains, which exploded and is lucky to survive. Soha Ali Khan is a TV reporter and her fiance is killed in the incident. Paresh Rawal is a hawaldar in the verge of retirement. K K Menon is a computer salesman, who happens to suspect every muslim he sees around. Irrfan is a poor coffeewala from south India, who after being insulted in a shopping mall, makes hoax calls to police to create havoc is malls. The movie explores how Mumbai returned to it's self after the incident through these characters.
