    N. Chandra was born on 4th April 1952 in Mumbai india , His Birth name is Chandrashekhar Narvekar .

    N. Chandra start his career as a film editor, and with Ankush (1986), he started his directorial debut.

With Ankush, Chandra began his projection of the angry young man. He wrote, directed, produced and edited the Nana Patekar starrer. Next year he followed it up with Pratighaat, a film on the gruesome reality of rape. In 1988 he made Tezaab, the film that effectively launched Madhuri Dixit's career. It was the beginning of the Bollywood diva's long and successful pairing with Anil Kapoor, and her mastery of dancing through the song "Ek do teen" N. Chandra was at his best in Tezaab he was in peak of his imagination and direction which he started from Ankush and Pratighaat one really wonder why he is unable to create same magic till now. Most of his later made films were not what one can expect from a maker like N. Chandra and it feel sad to see he started making style and Xcuse Me type of films.

N Chandra’s last film "Breaking News", brings media under fire the film subtly ask journalists to investigate what is behind the news rather than just presenting facts. "Breaking News", narrates the story of six characters living in Mumbai and focuses on real life issues like unemployment, migration, the notorious underworld and religious fanaticism. The film shows how demanding city life sometimes provokes a person to commit an act that becomes news and calls on the media to be sensitive while reporting such incidences.
