Nandini Maliya was born in Kolkata on 4th February. Her father’s name is P.S Maliya and mother’s name is Shamita Maliya. She passed Senior Cambridge Examination from Pratt Memorial in the year 1905. She also studied at Bethune college with Honors in English.
She made her debut in the film “Chhuti” in the year 1908 directed by Arundhati Devi, but before this director Sudhir Mukhopadhay wantwed to give her break in his film “Jowar Bhanta”, but she could not accept the offer as she was a school student then. Her major films were, “Malyadan”, “Chhanda Patan”, “Debdas”, “Rasomoyeer Rasikata”, “Aagamikal”, “Lal Darja” etc. Apart fom Bengali she knew Kannar, Tamil and Telegu. She got married to cinematographer Niren Adhikari. But they were separated after five years. After their separation she again came back to the film industry. She also acted in commercial stage and television serials.
