    Shivajirao Gaekwad (Anil Kapoor) is a cameraman and reporter for a TV channel, Q TV. He and his assistant, Johny Lever, receives accolades for covering exclusive footage of a riot and also saving people on the same day. For the same, he gets a chance to interview chief minister Balraj Chauhan (Amrish Puri). He exposes the Chief Minister very badly, and to save his fac, the CM challenges him to handle the pressure of the running the government for just one day. Shivaji, in order to teach the corrupt CM a lesson, accepts. Shivaji makes most of the day by taking on the spot decisions and he is assisted by Bansal (Paresh Rawal) as his personal assistance. In just one day Shivajirao makes drastic changes in the state and law order and suspends all the corrupt officers. He orders immediate suspension orders and also he makes arrests of ministers including Balraj Chauhan. This results in popularity among people beyond imagination. After the day is over he come back to normal life of TV reporter, but then he starts facing consequence, from that very night. He is attacked, his house is broken down, but that does not deter Shivaji. He receives huge support to stand for the election, which he eventually does. He also loses the consent of his girlfriend, Manjari (Rani Mukherji)’s father and later his parents get killed in a blast. Bansal advises him to stop leading the simple life and fight corruption being the chief minister again. Does Shivaji accept the challenge How does he make changes to curb down corruption and eliminate all the evil forces?
