Nayak synopsis (Story)
Arindam Mukherjee, a top ranking film star (Hero), is on his way to Delhi to receive an award. But he is unhappy. His new film seems to be a certain flop and the morning papers carry a news of his involvement in a brawl at club, the welfare night. Traveling in the train., Arindam meets an interesting cross section of his fans. In the restaurant car, he meets Aditi, a young and active editor of a women's magazine. Aditi wants an interview not because she is interested in him, or of films but because she thinks he would make quick selling ‘copy’, but Arindam refuses. Asleep ...

Saw the Movie and loved it... Satyajit Ray is Master of Direction..and his shots in moving train are fantastic... His way of Story Narration is superb Both Actors are Great... The trauma and Life of an actor is showed with so much grace. The Scenes between the lead actors makes the highlight scenes of the movie. Before ‘Nayak’ period Uttam was basically a romantic hero. After meeting Satyajit Ray, observing him very keenly his started to copy him, Ray’s style of talking, looking, smoking, behaving – every thing. He discovered a new image. He started doing critical character roles, even negative.
Uttam Kumar acted in Satyajit Ray’s ‘Nayak’ in 1966. It was his 110th film, which means it was placed in the almost middle of his filmography. Before ‘Nayak’ he acted as romantic hero for 18 years. And after ‘Nayak’ till death, he was in film for another 16yrs, which means year wise also ‘Nayak’ was almost in the middle.
