With International Women’s Day celebrations this week and most offices, newspapers, magazines, websites, shopping portals running the theme; one lady comes to my mind who is helping women in a fiercely competitive field to stand their ground and look beautiful and confident.

Yes, she is none other than Celebrity Fitness Trainer Yasmin Karachiwala associated with Body Image Bandra. I joined this Fitness Studio in July last year and it has been an enriching journey since then. I was a bit hesitant to be in a celeb hangout and my fitness doesn’t match up to their levels (so I think); but this place became a part of my daily life effortlessly. I have sensed vibrancy in the atmosphere and there is place for all women who have decided to take charge of their Body and Mind. It is exciting and encouraging to be gymming with the likes of Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhattand not to forget Bong beauty Bipasha Basu; but at the same time, it could be unnerving if you were to get into any comparison of sorts.

Body Image has its own charm and unique proposition which makes all women feel comfortable in their own skin. There is no body shaming and you are encouraged to try new things. My trainer Nitish has always told me “You can do this and we will eventually get there”. Those lines resonate in my ears and keep me going. In a day and age where fitness and beautiful body have become an obsession, it is much needed that someone encourages you to embrace, know and appreciate your own body first. We can only improvise something that we appreciate.

Yasmin Karachiwala is one woman whom I look up to. She works with male and female trainers and stands her ground in a field which can be supremely male dominated, breaking stereotypes. She is up for reinventing herself and is a ‘Role Model’ for women aspiring to be fit and more importantly not losing their mind over it.

Yasmin trains the celebs personally but her personal trainers put in that extra effort to make you feel special, empowered with your body and beautiful inside out. As they say and I summarize with the dialogue of my famous hero Shah Rukh Khan -‘Never underestimate the power of a common man’; and I add to it 'Never underestimate the power of a common woman either'.

Belated Happy Women’s Day to all the beautiful women out there!
