Nitin Bose was born on 28th April 1897. His father’s name was Hemendramohan Bose
Both as a photographer and as a director his contribution to Indian Cinema was remarkable. It was Bose who threw spot light on playback in Indian Cinema. As a photographer Bose made his first attempt in the film called ‘Incarnation’. He made his first directorial debut in a Hindi film called ‘Chandi Das’. His number of directions are about 40 including Hindi and Bengali. Nitin Bose’s directions were ‘Jeeban Maran’, ‘Desher Mati’, ‘Didi’, ‘Ganga Yamuna’, ‘Somar Prabhuti’ etc. Nitin Bose was awarded with ‘Dada Saheb Phalke’ award in 1977. Nitin Bose left us on 19th April in the year of 1986.
