Rajkumar Gupta earlier had given us a fantastic film, Aamir. Now, he is back with No One Killed Jessica.
The movie captures the emotions well without getting into a documentary trap or melodrama or overdramatization in sake of commercialization. It strikes a fine balance, which is quite rare in Bollywood when easily, it could have gone into the forbidden territory.
Rani Mukherji gives a stellar performance as the fiesty, foul mouthed journalist Meera, probably one of her best performances till date and a comeback she will cherish all the way to awards for this year. Vidya Balan as Jessica's sister was subdued, but a good match for Rani.
The story is known to everyone and fresh in our memories as the drama had unfolded on TV and media few years back and spilled on to the streets. But, the treatment will make this one movie to remember in association with the real life incident that unfolded in our capital city.
There are some comic elements as usual, especially related to the witness characters. The movie takes a little time to develop the tempo and first half could have been little faster or shorter.
Look forward to more movies from the director.
