Problem to hai…….
Aneez Bazmee I started his career with some good comical hits in 90’s era. He started his direction with a forgetful film, followed by some decent work. But he got established only after ‘No Entry’, which was his entry in the direction world of Comedy films. After that he gave us quite a few comedy films. His track record of Hits continued after ‘No Entry’, but as they say records are meant to be broken. So will this latest offering of Aneez Bazmee continue the winning streak of his Super hits films or will break the record. Let’s find out.
Story is typical conning based, where some or another keeps conning each other. But the freshness out here is the introduction of a looser cop played by Anil Kapoor. Anil Kapoor manages to bring the freshness in this typical con based film. Screenplay has loads of jitters and the story just keeps dragging at many places. You skip some part of the film and still you will feel you are at the same point, only difference is the change of location or characters. In short the basic soul of the film is missing. There are some good and witty dialogs, but that’s it, nothing more. We need some good creative writing out here and instead there are loads and loads of slapstick humor. Editing too is badly required at many places, as said earlier the film at many parts just keeps going on and on. But on the positive part all these dragging or typical scenes are not boring, there is something to offer and will keep you interested in the film. Camera work is not bad, but the special effects are total tacky.
Music is average and not at par with Aneez’s last few hits. Shakira and Chest west are enjoyable but rests all are passable. Background music is too loud and jarring.
Aneez is a creative director who has good command over humor. One can see that out here too, as the small small moments keeps popping up in the film, which keeps the smile on your face, but on overall basis it disappoints. The intelligent writing is missing and forced slapstick humor looks funny for a while, but later starts irritating a lot. It’s been a formula for all comedy films now days, to have all characters jumble up in the climax and has lots of confusion. Out here too they have done the same, but the confusion is missing and instead loads of dummy gorillas are added, which looks horrible.
God only knows what was Sanjay Dutt doing in this film, same for Kangana Ranaut. Paresh Rawal tries to tickle you funny bone, but ends up in his routine avatar. Sushimta Sen with her split personality was horrible. Sunil Shetty, Shakti Kapoor, Neetu Chandra and Suresh Menon were good. It was nice to see yesteryears villain Ranjeet in his traditional Khokha appearance. Last but not the least, the only saving grace of the film is Anil Kapoor. Though he too hams a lot at many places, but still was better than all other.
So bol meri ‘Filmi Khopdi’ is film mein kitna hai dum ?
Thoda bahut dum hai, but baaki sab typical loud comedy hai. In comparison with Aneez’s last few work the film is a big big disappointment. But will work wonders for all those who love slapstick comedy, or say a great watch at satellite TV or DVD. But if you are expecting a decent intelligent comedy than please try to avoid this one it has loads of problem. As Anil Kapoor’s character keeps saying in the film ‘Mitti Daaalo’, I guess we should do the same for the film.
