    Go Go Go….God Restored

When Indian cinema saw its Inception, films were mostly based on mythology and historic characters. As the industry grew, many others genres were explored and slowly these films got confined to low budget films and finally found their place in small screen. But one can still never forget gems like ‘Shirdi Ke Sai Baba’ or ‘Surya Putra Shanidev’ or ‘Bajrangbali’, and of course the epic 1975 hit ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’. Among these, there also came few films where God appears, as a sign of purity, in modern times in order to change the atheists. Some were classics like Sanjeev ... » read more

Oh My God: A Godly Truth

OMG - Oh My God rating: 7 out of 10

    By Shiraj Dakshy(30 Sep 2012)

OMG is based on the popular gujrati play “Kanji Virudh Kanji” which later was adapted in Hindi as “Kishan V/s Kanhaiya”.
The story is of Kanjilal (Paresh Rawal) an antique dealer who is an atheist, and who earns by duping his customers by the name of God. In one fatal day his shop is demolished due to earthquake and when he goes to the Insurance Co. for his claim, his claim is repudiated as per the clause of “ACT OF GOD”. So Kanjilal decides to sue God and asks for compensation with the help of his lawyer Hanif Qureshi (Om Puri). Summon is sent to the various God men ... » read more

Oh My God! It turns out to be a surprise package!

OMG - Oh My God rating: 8 out of 10

Today when joining a Rs. 100 cr club has become a trend and a necessity for Bollywood films the element that suffers the most is the story. In this superfluous crowd of fame, trade and commercial films, the real cinema has lost its charm. But OMG – Oh My God shows a ray of hope with its presentation of story, characters and very strong and pun intended dialogues.

The makers of OMG - Oh My God beg to differ and have truly, sincerely and mind blowingly paid attention to the story and the dialogues in the film (a very rare thing in modern films), without adding any ... » read more

ACT OF GOD : ACTIVATED BY GOD-MEN

OMG - Oh My God rating: 8 out of 10

    By Dipen Guha(05 Oct 2012)

The first and foremost conviction that appears uppermost in mind after watching the movie is that the film does not pivot round the character, wrongly indicted as " nastik" or atheist. The character that deals in idols of divinites dramatically adds lies connected with the salable images/ idols and thus dupe customers. What he does is to cash with the frailty of god-fearing people, who are, by and large, fond of magic, fantasy, miracle, wonder, and undesigned happenings. If one examines different advertisements ( citations not needed) on different things, aptness of the ... » read more

Welcome eye opener for blind believers of God!

OMG - Oh My God rating: 8 out of 10

    By Aditya Prasad(25 Nov 2012)

Oh My God (OMG) is a welcome eye opener for many blind folded believers of god who get misled by those who have made a business out of extracting money from such blind believers. As if you have been drugged to do whatever someone says or you are so scared about your well being that you believe 200% that doing any or all kinds of superstitious things will make your life better! If only.

I have been a non believer in going to temples or all such places, donating in the name of god etc., since my childhood. The most that I remember is about being forced to pray ... » read more

Tried to present flaws, couldn't give solution

OMG - Oh My God rating: 0 out of 10

By Rakesh Joshi (07 May 2013)

The movie does well to some extent in presenting how religious leaders are exploiting the audience. But it fails by concluding that all religious leaders are bogus and we don't need any middlemen to approach God. By doing so, Paresh Raval himself becomes a middleman because he is telling us as a middleman that we don't need middlemen. It may be agreeable that Krishna came in front of Kanji. But after Krishna left, how are others going to know about Krishna. It would be obvious that Kanji will inform others. So why should we conclude that Kanji may be the first person who ... » read more

    Atheist's tryst with God

OMG - Oh My God rating: 7 out of 10

    By Naina Chatterjee(26 Sep 2012)

After giving several popular films, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal are back together in OMG – Oh My God! Not just are they acting in this flick, they are producing it too! This obviously means that they trust their product a lot; otherwise, why would they put their stakes in it, right?
The film which is the story of an atheist’s tryst with God may see a good number of audiences thanks to the reliable reputation the two leading men have created for themselves especially with comedy. But will this movie set the cash registers ringing, only God knows!!! » read more
