Pitrasish Marketing comes up with their third production ‘Oh My Love’ in less than a year .The company have produced noteworthy films like 'Musalmanir Galpo' and 'Laboratory ‘ both based on stories by Rabindranath Tagore.Okay Musalmanir Galpo was a far better story than Laboratory and Mushalmanir Galpo is the last story written by Rabindranath Tagore on 24th-25th June, 1941, just a couple of months before his death. Director Pranab Chaudhuri, for whom this is the first time that he has turned director thought that the subject was absolutely ideal to be made into a film in the 150th year of his birth anniversary (Bengali calendar). What attracted him to make a film on this subject was the story of a girl turning into a savior for the helpless women who would be abducted by Madhumallar, the dreaded dacoit and also spoke about Hindu and Muslim brotherhood whereas Laboratory , a story written by Rabindranath Tagore just before a year before his death marked the debut of the Bollywood glam queen Raveena Tandon in Bengali films. This woman-centric film is essentially a tale of two women, especially Sohini - a rustic uneducated girl who is married to Nandakishore and then is left with a daughter and the lab at the end of the first year of her marriage due to her husband’s unfortunate death while carrying out an experiment in the lab. The story is all about how Sohini gets a hold of herself and makes an utmost effort to live upto her husband’s dream of maintaining the lab at any cost even if it means sacrificing the happiness of her daughter. The point is these were somehow two solid films based on content, but their present film is a terrible film and is nothing less than a shocker compared to their previous two productions. The reason is because of a very poor production level. If this is what is they had to offer the public as a Valentine‘s Day gift, then it is a poor gift. It falls flat because of certain factors which will be discussed later.
The story is about a young guy Rohan who comes across a girl Pari at a brothel (he is taken there by his friends) and he realizes he has been brought there by force. He decides to do something about it and goes back with some money and gets her out of that place under some pretext, He takes her to his house, but his parents don’t accept her when they come to know her real identity.Rohan decides to take her and go away somewhere.Jaga, the guy who had bought ‘Pari’ comes to know about their current location so he send his goons to fetch her. At the same time, Pari’s father also starts looking for her and even Rohan’s father comes to know the truth. What happens next remains to be seen and it obviously ends on a positive note .
The film falls flat because of the performances. They are nothing great and that includes the lead pair.Kamalesh who had made his debut with Mon Chay To make has changed his name to Kunal and the credits mentions him as ‘debutante Kunal’.My! My! This is absurd! He should also realize that changing names does nothing to one’s career if one cant act.Priyanka also isn’t that great. The music is terrible and shooting in foreign locations doesn’t always add to the film if the film itself is hopeless. This kind of a production wasn’t expected from Pitrasish. Also why has Kamalika started playing mother to heroes who are near her age? To begin with, she shouldn’t be playing motherly roles at this age.
