    An excellent offering from a multifaceted and talented young director. Omkara is Vishal Bharadwaj's take on Othello and he even ensures that the main characters have the same initials as in the original (Othello becomes Omkara and Desdemona becomes Dolly). It is a crafty conversion of the Shakespeare's story from the sophisticated backdrop of Venice to the rustic surrounding of Uttar Pradesh.     Omkara: A Classic Of International Standards!

    I caught the first day first show of Omkara when it was released, and I must say that I am astounded still today. Vishal Bharadwaj had previously carved a niche for himself in the industry, with the likes of Makdee and Maqbool, but Omkara puts him in a league of his own. It is an exquisite work of art, with each person putting in their best. Everyone knows Omkara to be an adaptation of Othello, and I frankly expected Omkara to be just that.
