OLLO - A true flavour of the Punjabi tadka, with a lot of comedy and an efforless performance by Abhay Deol...
He proves his acting skills yet again in this movie...

Liked the movie for the insights of a 'typical Dilli' thrown in, for the characterization of Lucky (and others), the justification of Lucky's actions through the portrayal of his background, his shift in actions when he sees his family, Sonal's inability to resist the attraction towards Lucky, etc. etc.

Though I felt the movie was a little arbit, not flowing seamlessly from one scene ... » read more

    Oye Dilli, Dilli Oye!

The movie showcases Delhi in its truest form. Living in Delhi, I could completely relate to most of the scenes. Lucky's adolescence was in fact, related in such a real manner, at times I got so immersed, that I forgot that I was actually seeing a movie.

The dialogues were unbelievably good. Very well written, and delivered in the precise Delhi twang. Some gems: 'tujhe kaise pata chala ki mujhe bhook lagi god! main to touch ho gayi!!!!"; "laal rang ki bike chahiye...kaun sa waala laal bete, marooti waala laal ya tere gaal ... » read more

    Luck By Chance !!

When Abhay Deol was to mark his debut in Hindi films people reacted by saying we don’t want another Bobby Deol , or Another action hero. Little did they know that this actor will make his own league of cinema, a blend of meaningful and entertaining cinema. Though he has not been Lucky enough to get hard hitting roles not big commercial success, still has created a niche for him.

“Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye” is a film based on real incident which happened in north India. Lucky [Abhay Deol] from his teenage gets the hang of stealing stuff for ... » read more

There has been a distinct division in the making of films in Bollywood, of late. On one hand we get big budget flicks from Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and on the other hand from 2006, we have been highly fortunate to receive enactors like Kay Kay Menon, Irrfan, Paresh Rawal, Jimmy Sheirgill, Rajat Kapoor, Ranvir Shorey and Vinay Pathak. Specially Kay Kay Menon and Irrfan have been giving such powerhouse performances that they have already made a formidable mark on the global celluloid scenario. Abhay Deol quite surprisingly and ... » read more

Nothing which you haven't seen before... the acting is medicore... the only bright spot is probably Neetu Chandra who maintained grace and poise. Paresh Rawal is surprisingly subdued. Abhay Deol did the best he could but that sadly isnt enough to carry the movie through. There are no twists, not much humor. At some point it sort of becomes monotonous. At some point in the movie, I started drawing parallels with similar sort of movies like say, Johnny Gaddaar and Roop ki Rani, choron ka raja, Bunty aur bubly and the uber movie in the class, Catch me ... » read more

    Dilli Mein Oye Oye

Having struck the bull’s eye with his maiden venture “Khosla Ka Ghosla” based on a real life event, Dibakar Banerjee tries another “sansanikhej” work of fiction “inspired by” real life event, and he succeeds big time.

Lovinder Singh a.k.a. Lucky (Abhay Deol) belongs to a low-middle class family in Delhi. He thinks big but no hopes of converting his dreams into reality, as there won’t be a higher education lined up for him and also he has strained relations with his father (Paresh Rawal #1, who does not care much about his family and ... » read more

Disclaimer: Went to a cinema theatre after ages; so please pardon me if I seem overawed by the movie.
Oy Lucky Lucky Oye floored me...the excellent capture of the heart, the spirit of Delhi (which I can well relate to, having lived there for over 20 years), the intelligent script and dialogues, the above average performances, and of course the use of the 1979 chartbuster "chahiye thoda pyar"... all of it had purpose, made sense. This is the first Abhay Deol film I watched, and must say he is much better than the other Deols, and I need to watch all his films. Paresh ... » read more

Oye Lucky Lucky Oye is not the usual run of the mill movie that you watch, but it is also not the parallel cinema that we are used to either. Oye Lucky! Is actually your very own new wave cinema that has engulfed the whole of Indian Film Industry. Indian Film Industry is infact going thru a similar phase that Hollywood went thru in early 70s and late 60s, a phase of parallel cinema, dominated by some of the path breaking movies of that time. Probably we are going to see more of such things in Indian film industry.
Abhay Deol seems to be toast of the tinsel town now-a-days, ... » read more
