There was a conflict between Bholanath, a conservative attorney and his son, a young man with a modern outlook. The former wanted the latter to be a lawyer, while his son wanted to establish himself in the world of music. At last when the conflict was severe, they left the house with out anybody's knoledge. Bholanath passed his days in great distress. Then his own friend Jagbandhu bought to him a girl of seven or eight years old from a very poor family. Her name was Anita. Bholanath bought her up as his own daughter. By an irony of fate, the girl's fondness for music reminded Bholanath of his son. Bholanath alomst lost interest in life. Thus ten years passed off and the girl of that day was then seventeen years old. Marriage negotiation was going on between Barister Supriyo Choudhury and thenyoung Anita. But doctor Jagabandhu did not favour this marriage. Mean while because of the invitation of Mrs Chatterjee, Alok's mother came from Ranchi to request Anita to sing in a charity show. Anita started her journey by a train in a first class ladies compartment. An unknown boy jumped into her compartment while the train was in motion. He was Dilip. Anita used insulting words for his unauthorised presense in her compartment which compelled Dilip to leave the compartment by pulling the chain. Anita discovered that the man was the teacher and the organiser of the program. When Dilip came to know Anita's identity through Alok, his mind became disquite ? . Anita somehow understood that Dilip loved her. They felt a love for each other having been exposed ? the young generation of Ranchi? . They wanted to take revenge. Dilip's sincerity overcame their opposition. In the end, Dilip and Anita realised their relation was inseparable. In the mean time Bholanath was seriously ill and passed away. Anita came to Kolkata but did not find Bholanath alive. In the will left by Bholanath, there was a provision for Anita's future living. Dilip came there. On hearing her father's death Dilip could not ignore Anita, so the were united.
