Patiala House is no Bend It Like Beckham. It has got Akshay Kumar in it. And it's not directed by Gurinder Chadha. The director's name is Nikhil Advani. Yes, the same Nikhil Advani, who paired with Akshay to deliver Chandni Chowk To China. In a corporate world, non-performance would have been punished. But, Bollywood functions differently and Nikhil Advani is back with Akshay to give another potential dud - Patiala House.

Here is the story in short: Akshay (boy) wants to play cricket - father doesn't allow - all family members terrorized by father - family hates ... » read more

If not Six, it’s definitely a Four!

Patiala House is one film that you would love to watch with your entire family. It’s one film which will surely inspire you, and its one film which will surely make you emotional at one point of time. Director Nikhil Advani and Akshay Kumar has teamed up again after giving a flop film ‘Chandni Chowk To China’, but this time the duo has delivered a commendable film which if one will not like it, then surely the other one would definitely give his thumbs up. Though Nikhil has started his career by giving a super hit film ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ which was released in the year 2003, ... » read more

Akshay Kumar at last takes a break from his buffonary and acts serious in "Patiala House", rumored to be loosely based on Monty Panesar.Akshay tries hard to portray a silent and obedient son "Gattu" who has dreams to make it big in cricket and play for England but his father played by the brilliant Rishi Kapoor, an anti-brit sikh stops him from doing so. the basic idea of the story is good which unfortunately falls flat, one for its treatment (Bend it like Beckham meets Karan Johar), second its extremely slow pace in the first half and third too many characters without ... » read more

PATIALA HOUSE is a film about affections, relationships and household attachment, about values and trying to amend to conflicting principles that usually pick up when one move to another country. More prominently, it's about dreams and ambitions and how destiny offers you a second opportunity in life. The screenplay of PATIALA HOUSE is unpredictable - indecisive between appealing to run of the grind to flabby moments. The film hubs on the bonding between the father and son, it also interlaces the well-liked sport fine in the tale and that makes for a motivating presentation. ... » read more

    Good for 1 time

Patiala House rating: 6 out of 10

Akshay plays this division with unusual maturity. It's a multifarious responsibility to depict since he has to mask the emotional chaos he is experiencing within, yet be dressed in a jolly idiom against all adversity. He also makes sure that his bowling talent looks totally practical on screen and he does honesty to the sport. The foremost and the finest thing that Patiala House does, is redefining the stereotype Akshay Kumar from the funny side comedian to a fabulous actor. He steers away from typecast and cuts out every outline of melodrama and every predictable formula ... » read more

Promos of forthcoming movies are very important now days. As gone those days when whatever the promos were, the music and word of mouth use to help the movie grow. Also that the cine lovers use to give a shot for some or another minor reason too. But now as we have loads of free entertainment in form of T.V, Reality Show, T-20, etc + the high killing rates of Multiplex and not to forget the abstract food prices, people have become choosy when it comes to movies. If the promo of any movie does not appeal them, they will wait for zillions of reviews; they will wait for their ... » read more

Patiala House movie is interwoven with the popular game of cricket but it could have been any other game as well. It wouldn’t have disturbed the flow of the story. The film narrates the story of a second generation Indian in UK, namely Akshay as Gattu. Rishi Kapoor plays the role of a father to Akshay; and has strict traditional values, that are against the aspirations of Gattu.

Gattu forgets about his dreams and follows the life, directed by his father. But, life presents a second chance to Gattu after many years.

The film showcases different emotions ... » read more
