Aamir Khan has taken some unreasonable pot shots at the media. It seems like Aamir and Anusha vented a personal sense of disorientation and ire at the media through Peepli Live. But overall, the banner’s filmography so far has been excellent and Khan's penchant of backing the right horse is legendary.
As about the cast; Rizvi’s husband Mahmood Farooqui, who has co-directed the film and is responsible for the casting. He deserves a pat on the back for his choice of actors. Every performer on screen brings a certain charm to the story and contributes to the narrative.
Shalini Vatsa as Natha’s wife Dhaniya, Farrukh Jaffer as amma, and Malaika Shenoy and Vishal O Sharma as television reporters Nandita and Deepak all put in performances to be proud of. Malaika Shenoy is just exceptional and Shalini Vatsa is simply outstanding. It’s hard to believe that most actors in the film have little or no previous experience of being in front of the camera. They all excel in their respective roles. The show stealers here are Raghuvir Yadav, Omkar Das Manikpuri and Farrukh Jaffer. Manikpuri is brilliant as Natha. Raghubir Yadav shines as the opportunist brother. Naseeruddin Shah is first-rate as the conniving, shrewd politician. The remaining cast - there're lots of actors in the film - pitch in believable performances.
On the whole it’s good to be educated and aware, a film for them will be outstanding but for people who seek masala entertainment always, for them it’s just simply good.
