Reshmi Mitra is back with her second film ‘Piriti Kathaler Atha’ starring Sourav and Riddhima in the lead roles. After her first film ‘Bhalobashar Zindabad’, the second one is also a disappoint. The film opens with a dream sequence soon after the commencement of the film where Sourav is seen dancing with a girl/different girls at locations outside Kolkata. The plot is very tight. The tale is nothing new as well.
Raja, a taxi driver saves a girl Moon from some guys who try to molest her one day. Incidentally those guys are ex students of her college. From then on, those guys keep on bothering her. Raja also reaches everyday to her college in his taxi and also escorts her back in his taxi when she returns home. This brings Moon close to Raja and she falls in love with him. Meanwhile one day again those guys catch hold of Raja and bash him up. When he returns home, Moon follows him to his house. She tells him that she loves him, but he tells her that he doesn’t love her as he loves someone else. He just remembers that girl’s face and knows absolutely nothing else about her. Moon tries to persuade Raja to forget the girl, but in vain. Moon tells him that if their love is true, then no one would take Raja away from her. Her marriage is also fixed. Later on it is discovered that that girl was none other than Moon and certain incidents had separated them at childhood.
How does a taxi driver have such a house? In fact his house would put many other people to shame if compared to their houses.Sourav is just about okay.Riddhima, we have seen before 2 or 3 films and she is okay. In fact she must be more than okay for a director like Kaushik Ganguly to choose her for his next film ‘Rang Milanti’.The quality of the print wasn’t good at all when viewed in the theatre. The Songs aren’t good at all. The hero is bashed severely by the goons even with a cricket bat, but however he rise after some time and starts bashing them instead just like in films! The songs are not good at all. The actions sequences are terrible. They also seems to be in mid air and in fact at times the people are seem to flying in mid air as seen years before in the Hindi serial ‘Vikram Aur Betaal’.Just imagine! In one sequence, Raja is shown to be hit by a car where he goes flying in the air due to the impact, but it can be clearly seen that the car doesn’t hit him and he goes flying without the cat hitting him. Why can’t the director make more decent films?
