    “Phera” is very much similar to “Mahulbanir Sereng”. In both the movies Shilajit plays a doctor, practicing in a tribal village, in both the movies he fells in love with a tribal girl and in both of the films the girls get pregnant. But there are some differences as well, Chandreyee Ghosh in “Mahulbanir Sereng” was a married woman and after being pregnant she committed suicide but in “Phera”, Shilajit’s love interest Jhinuk (Rituparna Sengupta) does not commit suicide but gives birth to their son Apu.     This film is a surprise from director Parthasarathi Joardar. It is a complete departure from his all earlier films. He wanted to make some thing different than the used commercial ventures. And “Phera” is a different film no doubt.
