    Prasoon Joshi was born on 16th September 1971 at Almora in Uttaranchal.He did his MBA from Institute of Management Technology, a business school located in Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, India. After his education, he decided to try for the advertisment world and so he went to Ogilvy & Mather. He is now the regional Creative Director for McCann-Erickson for South and South-East Asia, as well as a lyricist for many popular Bollywood movies.

    Prasoon Joshi marked his debut in Bollywood with the film Lajja (2001), starring Manisha Koirala and Ajay Devgan, in which he gave lyrics for the song ‘Kaun dagar kaun shehar…’. In his early poetry he has written about women, drawn from his personal experiences. He has surpassed himself in Lajja, the context of which is more universal and which every woman can relate to. He also gave lyrics for Mukt, the same year, which went by unnoticed. Joshi’s next work was seen in Aankhen (2002), starring Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, in which he wrote the intense love song ‘Gustakhiyan hain betaabiyan hain…’. He then gave the lyrics for all songs in the hit film Hum Tum (2004), starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji, after which he became popular. ‘Ladki kyon na jaane kyon…’ and ‘Saanson ko saanson mein…’ were among the biggest hits of the year. In 2004, Joshi also worked in Revathy’s Phir Milenge, starring Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty. ‘Jeene ke ishaare mil gaye…’ and ‘Khul ke muskura le…’ became popular. The same year Rok Sako To Rok Lo (2004) released in which Joshi composed the lyrics. The title track has uncomplicated lyrics that come quite handy while humming the tune. ‘Jaane kise…’ has quality lyrics as well. But unfortunately, the album was a flop. Joshi also worked in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black (2005) which was critically acclaimed. He penned the only song in the film viz. ‘Haan maine choo kar dekha hai…’ which was very sentimental. But the songs which he will always be remembered for are those in Rang De Basanti (2006). The tracks ‘Roobaroo…’, ‘Khalbali hai…’, ‘Luka chhuppi…’, ‘Tu bin bataaye…’and ‘Masti ki paathshaala…’ all consist of sensational lyrics. In Fanaa (2006), starring Aamir Khan and Kajol, Joshi produced his next great piece of work. He wrote ‘Chand sifarish…’, ‘Dekho na…’, and ‘Mere haath mein…’ besides other songs for the film. All the tracks consist of youthful poetic lyrics. Joshi’s most recent work in Taare Zameen Par (2007) won him many accolades. The tracks ‘Jame raho…’, ‘Dekho inhe yeh…’ and ‘Maa…’ stand out among the rest. One is situational, another is poetic and the third is sentimental. Joshi handles all with utmost care. Joshi also worked in a couple of Indipop albums like Shubha Mudgal’s Ab Ke Saawan (1999) and Mann Ke Manjeere: An Album Of Women's Dreams for Breakthrough (2000). Prasoon Joshi has penned the lyrics for the forthcoming film Kajri (2008).

    In 2005, Prasoon Joshi won the Screen Award for Best Lyricist for the song ‘Saanson ko saanson mein…’ from Hum Tum (2004). In 2007, he won the Filmfare Award for Best Lyrics for the song ‘Chand sifarish…’ from Fanaa (2006). He has won the 2002 ABBY for the Best Copywriter and the Best Ad Campaign. He has also won the Golden Lion at the Cannes Film Festival. He has won more than 200 advertising awards. Prasoon Joshi is also known as "the ad Guru of India". He has created many advertisements for various products like Coca Cola, Chlormint, Asian Paints, Cadbury, NDTV India, Pulse Polio Program, Vacao Scooty, Close Up, Ponds and Happydent. He has also created a campaign on women and HIV/AIDS for Breakthrough. He won the Golden Lion Award for the ad "Thanda matlab Cocacala".
