  • Superstar’s photo on poster deceiving people!

Prem Bibhrat rating: 4 out of 10(Aditya Chakrabarty wrote on 12 Jan 2012)

Imagine a Bengali film which has been released a decade or more after it was shot starring a few known actors and also supposedly a superstar of Tollywood.’Prem Bibhrat’ is one such film starring June Mallya, Nayna Das, Subhendu Chatterjee, Manoj Mitra, Chinmoy Roy and others which has suddenly been released simply out of the blue! The superstar and the shocking part? To be revealed later!

The story is about Nabaneeta and Kanchan who are collegmates.Initially they can’t stand each other and do just about anything to teach the other party a lesson. However somewhere down the line, they fall in love. It also turns out that their respective fathers had studied together in college as the two fathers come across each other on the street one day. From then on, they remain in constant touch and become extremely close.Nabaneeta’s father meets Kanchan one day, likes him and decides he will get him married to his daughter. Both the respective get wrong ideas about their respective son or daughter as Kanchan’s father sees him with a different friend and vice versa for Nabaneeta’s father who.All the youngsters and their respective families land up in Puri where at the office of the marriage registrar(even he turns out to a collegemate of Kanchan’s father as well as Nabaneeta’s father) all wrongs impressions are done away with and Kanchan gets married to Nabaneeta.Even his elder sister, Krishna who was seeing someone secretly gets the blessings of her father.

The film doesn’t have any songs to write home about. June Mallya looks sweet though. It features the late Samit Bhanja who has passed away 9 years back! The film’s story is light and it is a decent film. It is just that for some reason it was stuck for a decade or more and now to get the film released and to draw in some crowds, the photo of the superstar of Tollywood has been printed on the posters and everyone is entering the theatres thinking he is the hero of the film but what do they get to see? Well, barely two minutes or exactly two scenes which is even worse than a special appearance!

Still any doubts as to who the superstar who we are talking about? Why, none other than our very own Prasenjeet!
