Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time rating: 8 out of 10(Aakash Barvalia wrote on 29 May 2010)

Prince of Persia, a two hours movie with lots of special effects, with a high voltage of entertainment, and whose budget is unimaginable, is being directed by none other than Mr. Mike Newell. The one who has also directed the famous “Harry Potter and the Goblet of the Fire” and the maker of the series “The Adventures of the Young Indiana Jones”.

As the film genre suggests and as the trailer of the film was being shown to us, it was but expected that the film would give us the highly package of entertainment. Lest see how much it has satisfied us.

As the story of the film is already a legend, so most of us would know what is it all about. Here, the story is little bit of filmy, and the rest is all about fantasies, adventures and etc.
Story is based on one of the mystical lands of Persia. Where the King of the Persia adopted a street boy, Dastan, whose blood was not a royal, but his character was. Soon when he grew up he was formerly known as the Prince of Persia, Prince Dastan, with his royal blood brothers Prince Garsiv and Tus. They all planned the battle strategies, as their spy has told them that their neighborhood city, Holy City of Alamut is been secretly supplying weapons to the enemies of Persia. The city was in the hand of one beautiful princess, Princess Tamina. Soon when all the Persian soldiers attacked the city and won the battle, Prince Dastan found one ancient Dagger (sought of ancient knife), with the under arrest of the Princess Tamina. Princess knew the secret of that knife; it was the sands of the time, where one can move back into their past and change the whole scenario. Soon, the King of Persia was being killed and the Prince Dastan was being accused. He flew away with the help of the princess to know exactly who the culprit is. And then later with the help of the princess, Dastan came to knew all the game plan about this, true motives behind Alamut’s invasion. It was all for that ancient weapon Dagger – the sand of time. Now the Prince and the Princess is all set their quest to save the world.

    My comment:
Story is very good and very fantasy, but the screenplay of the film a bit of filmy. But I think that’s ok, and can be neglected in compare of the thrill, adventure and excitement which is being given to us.

Direction by Mike Newell was extremely good, and I would love to see the sequel of this film. The special effects, CGI graphics, etc were just absolutely amazing. Truly unbelievable and a worth calling a Walt Disney product.

Performances by all the characters were good, but as what was eye catching was its thrill and fun only. No matter how good or bad the performances was, the adventure and the fantasies of the film will make your paisa vasool.

I have seen the movie in 2D, and still I am appreciating this much, now just think what would be the effect in watching this on 3D. Absolutely astounding!! I think that would the word. And if at Imax Dome?? Speechless!!

    Final verdict:
Story is little bit of filmy, but nevertheless, I think its fun, enjoyable, and lots of entertainment in just a span of two hours. Totally paisa vasool !!!

    3.75 / 5
