Prince of Persia, a two hours movie with lots of special effects, with a high voltage of entertainment, and whose budget is unimaginable, is being directed by none other than Mr. Mike Newell. The one who has also directed the famous “Harry Potter and the Goblet of the Fire” and the maker of the series “The Adventures of the Young Indiana Jones”.

As the film genre suggests and as the trailer of the film was being shown to us, it was but expected that the film would give us the highly package of entertainment. Lest see how much it has satisfied us.

    Bring back some real!

From Jerry Bruckheimer who brings us lots of gutsy TV drama, this is a disappointing movie. The pace is leaden, there are too many identical fight scenes, and the characters are no more developed than in the video game. Jake Gyllenhaal is beefed-up eye-candy and sports a cut-glass English accent (is this Jake, or has he been dubbed?), but his Prince is a cardboard action man. Gemma Arterton is even blander eye-candy. Ben Kingsley's villain is straight out of 1950s children's television.

The CGI is great, especially in the climactic cavern scene, but the movie ... » read more

    Terrific trashy fun!

I was in the mood for a big action trashy fun blockbuster after studying hard and having exams and that's what Bruckheimer and Mike Newell delivered.

I have to say I am so impressed with Gyllenhal's performance as Prince Dastan and he had not done only the acting but physicality to pull off some amazing stunts, which were his own and I thought Arterton as Princess Tamina was surprisingly good (specially after her dismal performance in Clash of the Titans). She actually put effort into her voice. She has been criticised for her performance as some critics have ... » read more

The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, Gemma Arterton as Princess Tamina, Ben Kingsley as Nizam, and Alfred Molina as Sheik Amar.

Tamina and Dastan, as well as Sheik Amar and Seso, return to Alamut to reveal the truth about Nizam and the dagger to Tus. First, they must get the dagger, which is kept in the sacred temple, guarded by the Hashshashin who killed Garsiv. Seso, the master of throwing knives, fights the spike-wielding Hashshashin to obtain the dagger. He manages to kill the Hashshashin after a well aimed throw, yet is fatally wounded in the process. Seso manages to throw the Dagger out of the window to Sheik and Dastan before dying. Sheik Amar then distracts the guards by serving as a decoy ... » read more

Prince of Persia is a popcorn film which can be enjoyed if not taken too seriously. The film seems to have made especially for the teen audience in mind as it boasts of an ample amount of mindless action, magical escapades, running, jumping, hiding & chasing around. Two hours of timepass is guaranteed if you don’t give much thought to where the film is heading.

Based on a video game, the film pretty much looks like one as Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), the adopted son of King of Persia and thus a rogue prince battles it out with pretty much everyone in Persia to save ... » read more
