    Prosenjit is the reigning superstar of Bengali Silver screen for the past two decades. He has got success in both commercial and parallel films with his exceptional acting prowess.

    Prosenjit was born on 30th September, 1962 in kolkata. His nickname is Bumba. He is the son of the great actor Biswajit .He studied at the St.Xavier’s school for his Higher Seondary and later joined the reputed St.Xavier’s College for some days. But he didn’t appear for exams due to his desire for acting. His first wife is Debasree Roy, a prolific Bengali actor. Later, he got married to actress Arpita Pal and has a son name Trishanjit.

    He made his debut as a child artist in the film “ Chotto Jiggasa”(1968) directed by his father Biswajit. He got wide recognition for this film as a child artist. Later in his youth , he worked in “Dui Prithivi “ directed by Pijush Basu in 1980 as a supporting actor with Uttam Kumar. In 1983, Bimal Roy casted him as the lead actor in the film “Duti Pata”.After that , there was no looking back for him and he is still now the leading hero of Bengal. He has worked in over 300 films commercial and parallel films. Unishe April , Utsav by Rituparno Ghose earned him critical acclaim.His performance in Choker Bali opposite Aishwarya Rai and in the film “Dosor” got huge appreciation for his stunning performances. Apart from that, he has a special place in the heart of the Bengalis for his performances in Satru(1984), Atanko (1986), Amar Sangi (1987) , Choto Bou (1988), Amor prem (1989), Sasurbari zindabad(2000), Biyer Phool, Kurukshetra (2002), Tobu Bhalobashi (2005) , Greftar (2007) and many more. He got B.F.J.A award for his performance as a child artist in Chotto Jiggasa. In 2007, he received Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award as a Best Actor for “Dosar”.
