Love stories have been one of favorite genre of our Indian cinema. But there are very few love stories which have been path breaking or outstanding. Most of them have been full of emotional drama, some with good dose of comedy, few had fantastic star cast and rest had outstanding music. Then there are some which are just simple flat love stories having some good moments where one can relate to it. But there are very few love stories which has a looser as it main character loving a beautiful girl, yes we have watched such films in Hollywood and few attempts were done out here too in form of Mehmood’s Main Sunder Hoon or Anil Kapoor’s Badhai ho Badhai were the main character was Ugly looking but had heart of gold and in love with the leading lady who barely noticed him and so on. Director Jugal Hansraj tries to add another name in this small list of such movies with the backdrop of Yash raj banners who are known for their romantic films. So let’s find out where does Jugal Hansraj’s product leads him this time as his last attempt had misfired.

Pyar Impossible is story of Abhay {Uday Chopra} who is madly in love with his college’s most beautiful and happening girl Alisha {Priyanka Chopra} who never even noticed him. One day he helps Alisha accidently but before she could know, her father takes her away from the college. Years pass by and Abhay still does not forget her, but same time develops Software which gets stolen by a conman Siddhu {Dino Morea}. As Abhay finds out that some firm in Singapore is going to launch similar software like his he suspect a foul play and reaches Singapore to find out Siddhu. Sadly there is no person with such name, but at that same time he sees Alisha who mistakes him as a Nanny for her 6 years daughter, thus ending Abhay in a critical situation. What will abhay do ? is the entire movie about.

Story is simple and entertaining. The movie is quite simple in first half, but starts getting interesting in second half till the anti climax. Screenplay to catches the pace with the story only in second half till the anti climax but goes hay way in the climax scene which is too filmy and fast. One will surely enjoy the scenes between Uday Chopra and Priyanka Chopra where they discuss about the looks of a person, when Uday shares about his first love and the best part is the Thai food dinner which is hilarious and well written. Camera work is fine and keeps the mushy romantic feel in the film.

Music is good but not outstanding as such films need. You can enjoy the songs like Alisha, Its possible, 10 on 10 and the best one comes in Anti climax Ek thi ladki. But problem with Salim-Suleimanis we can’t carry these songs with us once we are out of this film.

Jugal Hansraj has improved a lot after his last debacle, which still as per Indian standards was far better. Out here he chooses a topic which is different and tries to capture the film too in different manner but somewhere misses the heartbeat. The slow first half, not so great music and forced climax spoils the theme of the film. On one side we do feel for Uday Chopra, but on other side we don’t connect to Priyanka Chopra and her feelings at all. The soul should have been stronger in this film. The movie looks like direct inspiration of some Hollywood romantic films.

Uday Chopra finally gets a tailor made role for him where he does not have to do anything except stand and smile. His appearances add well to the character of this film and yes there is slight improvement in his performances too. He manages to be in the character throughout the film and does not ham at all. Priyanka Chopra looks stunning and portrays her part very well, but sadly the college girl image continues in her character of a P.R executive, which starts to irritate at times. Dino Morea and Anupam Kher are fine and hardly has anything much to do. The child artist is good, but again at times plays bigger than her age.

So bol meri “Filmi Khopdi” is film mein kitna hain dum ?

Dum hai, kutch kutch acha dum hain especially in the second half. But thanks to the lousy climax, slow first half and average music the movie fails to fit in the popular romantic films. But as said it had its own merits and is possible to watch it if you can digest Uday chopra who had done a better job than the other actors in this film.
