I found QUANTUM OF SOLACE (the latest 007 film) to be highly entertaining; yet, not quite up to its immediate predecessor (CASINO ROYALE).
The plot is fine, the acting is very good, the action is relentless---but, in my opinion, the thing that kept this film living up to CASINO ROYALE is the editing. At times the cuts are so fast, close, and frequent that it was hard to tell just what was happening. I sincerely hope that Eon looks for a different director for the next Bond adventure--someone who does not believe that a mind-blurring series of fast cuts makes for a much more exciting action sequence. Barring the hiring of another director-- perhaps, they should turn back to Martin Campbell. After all, I think Mr. Campbell did an outstanding job with CASINO ROYALE. That film had some rather intense action scenes that played out quite clearly and at a rapid pace.
All that aside, I still found the film to be quite good, and as I previously stated very entertaining and definitely worth watching!
Oh..and by the way...there have been reports in the media that Bond does not utter his famous "Bond, James Bond" in this film. Sadly, this is true.
However, there have also been reports that Bond doesn't drink his famous Vodka martini (shaken not stirred) in this film, either. But, that is not true. He does drink the martini...in fact, he drinks a total of six of them on the plane to Bolivia.
For whatever that is worth...ha ha!
