    Politics…is always interesting!!!

Raajneeti rating: 7 out of 10

Though Prakash Jha is already so good to describe politics in his own terms, whether it would be in “Apaharan” or in “Gangajal”. So it was but obvious that this film, with so many super cast n crew the story will be rough and tough.
When the word politics comes in our mind, who wouldn’t remember the origin of the word so called “Politics”. The one and only one, Legend “Mahabharata”. “Raajneeti” is a mixture of the Legend Mahabharata and the Current scenario in the world of politics. So it’s as simple as that, if you still love to watch Mahabharata, and also interested ... » read more

    Jha had done it again….

Raajneeti rating: 7 out of 10

Jha read Vyasa’s Mahabharat and did two things: First, he filched a few critical events and twisted the rest. Then, he picked some of Vyasa’s main characters and added the Gandhi mystique to them. Prakash Jha employs the same politics of power in his contemporary adaptation of Mahabharat, deriving its primary plot and central characters from the epic. He even borrows The Godfather’s famous severed horse-head scene.

The screenplay is crisp and has a dynamic flow with the drama building up through the political one-upmanship between opponents in every passing act. ... » read more

    Mind blowing cast…and Rocking performances…

Ranbir Kapoor. Now here’s a boy who had done his grandfather proud. The film finally belongs to Ranbir Kapoor who perfects the art of minimalism -- and literally grows before your eyes -- as the simmering volcano that cannot be held back, once it erupts. He's as grey and soot-filled, as volcanoes go. Supremely talented, his performance is nuanced and his shifts in character subtle yet exceptional. He makes you smile in one scene and gives you goose bumps the next minute. Ranbir Kapoor as the protagonist who is willing to go to any extent to win the political race stands ... » read more

    Kaarari Film Milegi…….

Raajneeti rating: 9 out of 10

When we were Kids we use to glue to Doordarshan to watch B.R.Chopra’s Mahabharata. Despite of knowing the basic plot we still use to be interested in the story as Mahabharata is so vast that it has lots to offer whenever you see it. Something similar happened when I had watched Shyam Benegal’s Kalyug which was focusing more on the Karan [The illegitimate child], a different perspective which made the story more interesting. Then there were few more modern adaptation of Mahabharata but all were following the Kalyug way showing family Enmity with Business as back drop, thus ... » read more

    Prakash Jha presents Mahabhrat..AKA Rajneeti

Raajneeti rating: 0 out of 10

Well its time to select candidates for election. We have Bhima guided by Krishna givng ppt presentation with Dhritarashtra paralysed in hospital. In walks in Karan nd Duryodhan and openly declares a war.
Welcome to Rajneeti -Modern version of Mahabhrat. I always wished tht I cld c a bollywood version of Mahabharat nd Prakash Jha fulfilled it but he made it wth a heavy hindi language.
The plot nd synopsis is almost the same as tht of the gr8 epic. Lets talk abt characters. This 3 hrs movie starts with a sixer by the Sun God nd (GOD of acting) Nasserbhai who hits ... » read more

    Power packed raajneeti

Raajneeti rating: 8 out of 10

    By Amitava Sengupta(06 Jun 2010)

It is power packed Rajneeti, nothing else. It is Prakash Jha, who gave us movies like Mrityudand, Gangajaal and Apaharan. It is modern day Mahabharat and when you want to make a movie on Rajniti, you will find all the ingredients in this Epic. It is a perfect entertainer, executed well with superb performance from Nana Patekar, Ranbir, Arjun, Nikhila Trikha and Manoj Bajpai. Are you missing few names? Yes, Katrina with so much mileage in this star-studded cast couldn't do justice to it. The best suited role for her is an anglo-Indian or a US/UK return babe. Ajay Devgn ... » read more

Mix one cup MAHABHARAT and one cup of GODFATHER... Add a pinch of GANDHI FAMILY HISTORY.. Squeeze in some Bollywood Masala - You got RAJNEETI. Imean yes, I do understand that all the ideas of commercial plots are suddenly available at a premium, but didnt we already have a SARKAR???? What Jha does is to mix a little bit of oyther epics too. And lastly I was disspointed by the end. Thats too bollywoodish.. Common, gimme a break. How can those many high politicians get murdered and not a single enquiry is done.. Bollywood has to mature and so does audience and subsequently ... » read more

    Inspired From Mahabharat

Raajneeti rating: 7 out of 10

By Deo Bhushan (04 Jun 2010)

This movie is completely inspired from the great epic mahabharat set in the modern world. where ranbir resembles the part of Arjun, Manoj Bajpai as duryodhan, ajay devgan as karn, arjun rampal as yuddhistra. other characters are also same as mahabharata.

as far as the movie is concerned....
its a very slow paced movie. there had been so many factual errors that it becomes hard to believe that its a movie by prakash jha.

1st thing 1st this movie is not at all abt the politics in india. the only resemblance to politics is that its a story of a political ... » read more

A well made movie, a hit for Prakash Jha.

Raajneeti rating: 8 out of 10

By Mrs Chandra Banerjee(22 Jun 2010)

Raajneeti is indeed a movie with all care to hit box office! Prakash Jha is successful to get a movie appreciated by most of its viewers.
Although he has based mahabharata as its background, it has shadow of many a good films of the past. But I give him credit that he made a very interesting film to watch.
Casting is very good excepting Ajay, as he looked too old for his part. But it is understood that Prakash has obligation to take him in the film.
It is not understood the casting of Nasiruddin Shah, as it is so meagre and could be palyed by any body of ... » read more

Raajneeti is Prakash Jha's take on the politics and the epic Mahabharath in the contemporary world.

Raajneeti starts off well in the first half where we are introduced to the various characters in the film and one can easily relate them to the characters of Mahabharath, but the difference here is that except Katrina Kaif (as Indu Pratap), all the other main characters have grey shades.

All the actors have performed their characters superbly well, especially Ajay Devgn (as Sooraj Kumar), Ranbir Kapoor (as Samar Pratap) and Nana Patekar (as Brij Gopal). ... » read more
